Artist Background:
Gwen is from the community of Igloolik. Her grandmother taught her how to sew the duffle inside the kamiks at the age of 4. She then learned the basics of sewing sealskin as she grew older. Gwen is talented with making mitts and slippers. When she’s sewing Gwen is still learning to see the point of view about sewing that her grandmother had use to teach her. She loves to use sealskin as the main materials for her projects.
