Artist’s background: Chris was raised mostly in Iqaluit by his parents, Roger and Mary Panigusiq Cousins, two beloved and well-known teachers and cultural specialists. He loved playing sports, four wheeling, boating and hunting. He grew up surrounded by a family of artists. It was a best next step for him to follow his interest in fixing things and putting things together by becoming a well-known ulu maker. He combines knowledge of traditional blade making with an excellent understanding of metal and wood and his deeply rooted creativity to craft beautiful, unique, and serviceable ulus. He now resides in Ottawa with his family and continues to work on customs design ulus.
