Role:
The Treasurer of Isaruit’s Board of Directors will oversee Isaruit‘ s financial needs, obligations and reporting requirements, and will advise the Board and the Centre Coordinator and Executive Director when hired, and the Financial Administrator of Isaruit’s office as needed. Closing date: Ongoing
Responsibilities:
- Support the Centre Coordinator, (Executive Director when hired), and the Technical Faciliator who are on staff with Isaruit, and any other Isaruit Employees carrying out programs and projects.
- Audit Bank activities in the Isaruit bank accounts, and advise on products and services to us.
- With the Chair of the Board, and the Financial Officer have signing authority to release funds through EMT , Cheque or cash transactions.
- Help the Financial Officer and Centre Director (or Executive Director) in the interim, plan financial spending, and participate in the writing of budgets for Projects and Programs funding proposals.
- Help the Centre Director (or Executive Director) find funding sources to support the projects of Isaruit, so that staff can write appropriate proposals.
- Oversee e-comm or other programs developed by the Technical Facilitator, to help Inuit artists sell their works, locally, nationally or international.
- Be attentive to the needs of Inuit artists anywhere in Canada, and support them to continue to seek knowledge and experience of traditional times to guide their and present day Inuit culture and language practices, and connect them with practising Inuit artists to help guide them.
- Advocate for a main stream individual and corporate understanding of the needs and values of youth, and especially their need to be engaged in Inuit arts practices.
- Help find outside support Isaruit Inuit Arts.
- Promote and support the use of spoken Inuktitut language by Inuit youths at all Isaruit events, by supporting Inuit youth to have success in using their Inuktitut language skills
- Directly and indirectly advertise, promote and clarify Isaruit Inuit Arts: Pijunarnivut initiative to support Inuit individuals, families and communities, no matter where they are, especially in the visual arts that promote living Inuit Culture and language
- Attend Board meetings once per month by Zoom or in person when the Directors so choose.
- Attend Isaruit Conferences and celebrations as much as possible
