Jewels grew up in the community of Taloyoak. She started sewing and crocheting at a young age because Jewel would watch her mother sew and crochet quite often when she was little and that is when she got intersted in sewing. Jewel’s mother taught her the basics of sewing and then when she learned how to crochet, Jewel’s would always try new patterns to crochet. her mother would encourage her not to give up on the projects she had started. Jewel is now a wonderful seamstress that loves to create beautiful amauti, parkas, mitts and headbands for her family in the community.
