Artist’s background: Gedida grew up in Clyde River, watching her parents and elders carving and realized that others valued their work and paid them good money. She noticed that her parents were very creative. So on her own when she was very young, she began carving on her own. She started off with soft stones to practice on and now carves Ivory, caribou antlers, and baleen jewelry from traditional tattoo and inukshuk designs. She sells her jewelry locally and on Facebook.
