Artist’s background:
Emily grew up in the community of Coral Harbour. Emily used to watch her grandmother sewing when she was growing up and learned the basics of making clothing of all kinds when she was very young. Around the age of 13, Emily started sewing more on her own and making her own designs. She is now a very talented seamstress and knows how to make all varieties of traditional and modern clothing for Inuit. She considers it her hobby and get custom orders from people all over Canada and is becoming more known internationally as well. Emily now lives in Fort Resolution where she teaches ‘mukluk’ making and continues to sew and create.
