Artist’s background:
Darlene is from the community of Pond Inlet. She loved to watch her grandmother sew all the time when she was growing up, and then when Darlene was in grade 5 in Pond Inlet she learned the basics of sewing and has been sewing traditional mitts and kamiks and designing and sewing outerwear of all kinds and sizes out of fabric ever since. Darlene now lives in Clyde River with her own family. Everyone loves what she makes because she loves the creative aspects of designing clothes that are useful and beautifully made for the people in Clyde River.
