Why This Service Exists

Every Piece Deserves Its Story

Misattributed or “artist unknown” labels can erase legacy and limit value. Our team works with Elders, living artists, and archival resources to confirm authorship, fill biographical gaps, and guide respectful collaboration with Inuit communities.

Services

From Photo ID to Field Research

  • Image-based assessments – send clear photos; we cross-check stylistic cues and regional hallmarks.
  • Creator interview facilitation – consent-based interviews with living artists (phone, Zoom, or in-person).
  • Archival lookup – access to Isaruit’s internal records and Inuit Voices transcripts.
  • Citation guidance – how to credit artists properly in exhibitions, publications, and catalogues.

Fees & Ethics

Fair Compensation for Knowledge

Basic identifications are free. When deeper research or interviews are needed, we pay Elders and artists an honorarium; partnering institutions cover that cost. A sliding-scale applies for small community museums.
