Isaruit is committed to copying and archiving traditional Inuit clothing patterns, and patterns for crafts, knives, ulus, dolls, toys etcetera. Each pattern as it is archived is labelled with the name of the person who made the pattern, and the community the artist is from.
Isaruit encourages artists to ensure that every item made from a traditional pattern must be labelled with the originator’s name and home community, to prevent misappropriation of Inuit cultural and artistic property, and especially of patterns.
